The Mustang Project
Mustangs are a passion here at Worthy Trails. The more we meet, the more we love them!
Sarah started with mustangs in the early 90s in Colorado. Mustangs were trained to be worked as guide horses on the ranch, and were sold at the end of the year to the clients who had fallen in love with them. After taking a break, Sarah started back up with mustangs in 2015. After competing in two mustang training competition, the passion for mustangs had been reignited.

Currently, Worthy Trails Horsemanship brings in 3 to 5 mustangs a year for training and placement. Some of our mustangs come from private homes, however, the majority of the Worthy Trails mustangs come from our local Native American reservations. We feel our money is best spent supporting our local Indigenous community and there are certainly advantages to buying our mustangs from them. We are not "TIP" trainers, so there is no set structure to the training we provide for these horses. We are not required to return the horse if they fail to find home in a certain time frame. Some horses stay with us for 30 days, some for 30 months, some never leave! But each horse is put through the training program at the pace they need to do best. Then they are matched with a person who can continue their progress with success.
Our mustangs are at different levels of training when they leave here, it all depends on what skills their new home has. The only requirements each horse has is that the are up to date on all vet and farrier care, stallions are gelded, each horse is registered, nd we know them well enough to know what they need for a successful future.

We have a waiting list for available mustangs. If you would like to be considered for one of our mustangs, please email us at worthytrails@yahoo.com. Send us note about what you are looking for as well as your experience so we can match you with the right mustang.
